Lightscape Networks to demonstrate mesh intelligent, 10 Gbps build-as-you-grow global metro solution at NFOEC

July 5, 2001
July 5, 2001--Lightscape Networks, an ECI Telecom Company and an international provider of optical networking, will demonstrate its 10 Gbps global metro solution on its XDM platforms.

At the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC) at the Baltimore Convention Center July 8-12, 2001 (booth # 4608), Lightscape Networks, an ECI Telecom Company (ECI Telecom: NASDAQ:ECIL) and an international provider of optical networking, will demonstrate its 10 Gbps global metro solution on its XDM platforms, designed to meet the unique requirements of global carriers offering next-generation SONET, SDH, GigE and lambda services over metro and regional networks in both ring and mesh architectures.

Lightscape Networks will show a 4-node network, carrying services from wavelength to low order over SONET, SDH and DWDM networks. This demo also illustrates the XDM's mesh intelligence with "one-touch" migration from ring to mesh for in-service and cost-effective network scaling.

Using mesh topology with the XDM, carriers can improve bandwidth utilization, scale network on-demand, optimize traffic engineering for GigE services, and increase revenue generation with differentiated services. Additionally, the signaling and wavelength switching capability of the XDM unifies the intelligence in its metro mesh network with that of the core backbone mesh network, thereby enabling carriers to offer auto-provisioned services from edge to core.

The XDM allows global carriers to build a unified intelligent global network on a single platform with end-to-end network management. Lightscape Networks recently announced supply of the XDM to Cable & Wireless for networks in multiple locations globally, and customers include Deutsche Telekom AG, VodaFone and NTL.

As a scalable, multi-topology platform, the XDM supports in a single shelf, Gigabit Ethernet networking, multi-ring SONET/SDH, a distributed digital cross connect system, a full suite of DWDM optical networking capabilities and instant end-to-end service provisioning that sets it apart from the crowded field of metro MSPP solutions of other vendors.
