AppliedTheory (Nasdaq: ATHY), an Internet knowledge, development and managed hosting provider, completed a series of planned major network infrastructure upgrades that will further enhance its hosting and access capabilities.
AppliedTheory enhanced its network egress capacity across the country with additional OC-12 connections to AT&T's national OC-192 network in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. The connectivity to AppliedTheory's Web hosting center in Syracuse, NY, was upgraded to a private OC-48 SONET ring provided by Verizon. On the West Coast, a direct OC-3 egress connection to the Sprint network was added to the AppliedTheory's Web hosting center in Hayward, California. Earlier this year, AppliedTheory announced an OC-12 network egress upgrade in New York City utilizing AT&T's national network. Now, AppliedTheory has over 4Gbps in direct and diverse OC-12 connectivity to other large networks. When combined with other increases in private peering connectivity, AppliedTheory's egress capacity has nearly doubled this year.
