Spectran Corp., Sturbridge, MA, which develops, manufactures and markets glass optical fibers and fiber-optic products, is acquiring Applied Photonic Devices Inc., Danielson, CT, for approximately $3.9 million in cash and common stock. Applied Photonic`s business will be managed as an independent unit that complements the specialty cabling operation of Spectran`s Specialty Optics Co. subsidiary.
