NOVEMBER 11, 2008 -- RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation (search for RCN) and provider of high-capacity transport services, today announced that it is providing Liberty Resources Inc., a non-profit organization that advocates and promotes independent living for persons with disabilities, with Ethernet connectivity to support its continued growth.Â
Â
"We chose RCN Metro because getting our new building lit based on the estimates from other providers would have been cost prohibitive," reports Daniel Hart, IT director of Liberty Resources. "But RCN Metro's attentiveness to our needs as a Center for Independent Living along with our building's proximity to their new fiber network made them the obvious choice to provide us our network connectivity," he adds.
Â
Liberty Resources needed increased bandwidth capacity to support its clients as well as meet its technology requirements. RCN Metro recommended Ethernet, not only because it was best suited to support its application and current needs but because the service could be seamlessly and quickly scaled to fit Liberty's growing requirements.Â
Â
"Understanding the nature and challenges facing non-profits, it was important to control costs without sacrificing quality or support," explains Richard Beville, regional director of RCN Metro Optical Networks. "We were able to leverage our new and physically diverse fiber ring to provide this service to them. Since we own and operate our network, we can ensure that we provide Liberty with the same high level of support our customers have come to expect from RCN Metro," he contends.
