ElectroniCast forecasts increased demand for fiber-optic circulators

OCTOBER 8, 2008 -- Global consumption value of fiber-optic circulators reached nearly $170 million last year and is expected to climb to $280 million by 2012, according to ElectroniCast's recent report.

OCTOBER 8, 2008 -- ElectroniCast Consultants (search for ElectroniCast) has announced the release of a new market forecast and analysis of the global market consumption and technology trends of fiber-optic circulators in communication applications.

According to the study results, global consumption value of fiber-optic circulators reached nearly $170 million last year (2007). During the forecast period of 2007-2012, that value will climb to $280 million. Telecommunications will maintain its dominant market share lead throughout the forecast period.

"Three-port configuration fiber-optic circulator types led in relative market share in 2007 with 87.6% relative market share or a global consumption value of $148.39 million and will decrease slightly to a 85.4% market share, increase in value to $222.7 million in year 2012," reports Stephen Montgomery, president of ElectroniCast Consultants � APAC.

"During the forecast period, bandwidth expansion demands will push for new network links, incorporating metro/access, long haul, WDM, OADM, and other system-based deployments, driving the need for fiber-optic circulators," he adds.
