DVT45 video codec carries two channels of NTSC video in addition to six analog audio channels within one 45-Mbit/sec DS-3 interface. By using the codec, cable-TV and network providers can carry 96 TV channels using a single Sonet OC-48 optical fiber ring. The unit supports distance learning, videoconferencing and remote surveillance.
