Correction

The incorrect illustration appeared with an article in R&D Notes in the November issue. The article, on page 13, was titled "Waveguide coupler produces stable light." It discussed the work of Erji Mao and others at Stanford University. Below is the diagram that should have appeared with the article.

A side-polished optical fiber is brought into contact with a semiconductor anti-resonant reflective optical waveguide to produce a fiber-coupled narrowband light emitter.
