MANAGED OPTICAL CROSSCONNECTS

Aug. 1, 2000

The TransXpress Optical Service Node is a new crossconnection solution for high-capacity optical networks. The system includes a unique managed optical distribution frame for provisioning channels that are less-frequently rerouted. The other major component is a fast-switching optical crossconnect for managing short-notice network switching. Additional modules provide optical protection switching and network restoration, service aggregation, and distance extension. The TransXpress OSN enables traffic routing in a matrix of up to 2160 × 2160 crossconnections, without restrictions regarding signal format or type of service.
