Grating laser source

June 1, 2000

The UV-CVL is an ultraviolet laser source for writing fiber Bragg gratings for optical communications. The three models generate a choice of three UV wavelengths--255, 271, and 289 nm-and two visible wavelengths-511 and 578 nm. They produce average powers from 100 mW to 1 W and use less than 4-kW input. Pulse repetition rates range from 4 to 8 kHz.
