VPIsystems and Huawei announce OEM agreement
JUNE 21, 2007 -- VPIsystems (search for VPIsystems), provider of network resource planning software and services for the global telecommunications industry, and Huawei Technologies (search for Huawei Technologies), provider of next-generation telecommunications network equipment, have entered an OEM agreement for Huawei to resell a customized VPIsystems OnePlan Transport planning solution.
Per the OEM agreement, Huawei is able to offer the customized OnePlan Transport planning platform to its customers under a private label arrangement, as part of the OptiX MDS 6600 system for planning telecommunications networks. This product allows Huawei's customers to automatically and optimally plan and analyze their networks, say VPI representatives.
"VPIsystems' advanced planning software has excellent market potential," contends Jeffrey Gao, senior vice president of optical networking product lines at Huawei. "As network resource planning is emerging as an important industry trend, Huawei is focused on E2E operation software tools for carriers. Customized solutions bring more value to our customers and strengthen our industry leadership."
"Intelligent network planning software solutions have become a necessity for successfully implementing next-generation networks because the new architecture and associated technologies are too complex for traditional planning methods," notes Dr. Yufei Wang, senior vice president of technology at VPIsystems. "Huawei understands the importance of this shift and has selected VPIsystems as its partner to provide an integrated solution. This partnership is a natural fit for Huawei and VPIsystems, as we are both working with carriers worldwide and solidifying our leadership positions in the telecommunications marketplace."
Huawei is reselling the customized OnePlan Transport planning solution under this OEM agreement, as well as using the solution internally to support its sales engineering process. "Huawei is glad to work with VPIsystems to expand into a wider market, while continuing to serve our rapidly growing customers around the world," adds Zhang Wei, director of application software of optical network product lines at Huawei.
VPIsystems says its OnePlan offers communications service providers a single, cross-domain (geography, technology, discipline and network domain) integrated capacity and network planning capability. Through its modular design, OnePlan provides the scalability to enable customers to start with a single technology module and grow to a high-availability system spanning multiple network layers where OnePlan automates all network planning, engineering, and decommissioning activities, say company representatives.
