March 3, 2004 San Clemente, CA -- QPC Fiber Optic recently unveiled its Tactical Fiber Optic Link (TFOL), an inexpensive, high-performance, next-generation field connector specifically designed to address the changing requirements for optical interconnect products. More and more customers want to establish a quick, reliable fiber-optic link between two points without spending a fortune on expensive hardware equipment, say company representatives.
Similar to the company's field proven TFOCA-Enhanced connector, the TFOL uses standard 2.5-mm ceramic ferrules and alignment sleeves, which offer optical insertion loss as low as 0.30 dB for multimode and 0.25 dB for singlemode systems. Its compact size makes the connector ideal for a range of applications, including military, industrial, petro-chemical, broadcasting, and telecom. The environmentally sealed connector features a threaded coupling design based on MIL-C-26500 for quick and secure field connections, says the company. The black anodized surface treatment on the aluminum shell creates an exceptionally hard finish that prolongs connector life.
Plug and receptacle connectors offer various keyway polarizations and are available in two- and four-channel versions. Evaluation samples are now available.
