March 26, 2004 Austin, TX -- For large complexes with the need for multiple secure networks, 3M now offers 11 keyed and color-coded interconnects -- plus a white, unkeyed interconnect -- so that users can only access the network they are authorized to use.

The 3M Volition VF-45 keyed interconnect system includes all components needed for a complete end-to-end premises optical fiber system. The color-coded, keyed Volition VF-45 patch cords and sockets are installed in Volition patch panels and wall outlets.

Until now, 3M has offered six colors, plus white; at the request of a customer, five more colors have been added. Now all 12 industry-standard colors are available.

Use of the keyed plugs limits access to a specific network. A network administrator can provide a user with a Volition VF-45 patch cord for the correct network, keeping the user from inadvertently connecting to the wrong network. This system has been used successfully in government and military applications around the world.
