July 19, 2004 Livermore, CA--Alloptic, Inc., a pioneer in the development and deployment of Ethernet passive optical networks, today announced that The Pinehills LLC, an award-winning developer of residential properties in the Plymouth, MA area, has deployed the company's Gigabit optical network technology. Based on the Alloptic home equipment, the fiber-optic network is providing cable TV and high-speed Internet access services, with the additional capability to provide digital telephone service as needed.

"In developing The Pinehills, we set out to create a community as unique as its environment, which includes Old Sandwich Road, the oldest road in the United States," said John Judge, president, The Pinehills. "What we have created is a community designed to meet the needs of residents and businesses. The system includes a communications infrastructure that supports today's most sophisticated in-home and business technologies. Alloptic's unmatched bandwidth is the perfect amenity to take full advantage of future video and data development."

In deploying the network, Alloptic teamed with network operator New England Broadband, LLC. "Alloptic's system has exceeded our expectations since we deployed it in the spring of 2003, and has proven to be an important and essential component serving residents and businesses" said Brian Blais, president, New England Broadband. "It's pure Ethernet technology represents the future of access networks, and fits seamlessly with our other advanced IP-based equipment."

"Alloptic is proud to be associated with this prestigious community, which was named 'Master Planned Community of the Year' in 2003. This deployment validates what we have been working towards for the past few years," said John Yuzdepski, vice president of sales and marketing for Alloptic. "When you look beyond the technology, the Alloptic system truly is enhancing both the value of homes, and the lifestyles of those that live there."
