Astound Business Solutions serves up managed Wi-Fi for SMBs

May 20, 2024
The new Wi-Fi Pro service, powered by eero’s mesh Wi-Fi hardware, is designed to provide small businesses with easy-to-manage networking, enhancing their operational efficiency and customer experience.

Astound Business Solutions has launched Wi-Fi Pro for Small Business to deepen its foothold in the small to medium-sized business market.

Wi-Fi Pro provides Wi-Fi networking for businesses with up to 50 employees and their customers. The new offering is an upgrade from Astound’s Whole Business Wi-Fi and leverages the Eero mesh platform.

eero’s mesh Wi-Fi hardware with its TrueMesh networking technology will offer a range of features designed specifically for businesses:

Captive portal: This enables businesses to create a branded guest Wi-Fi experience for visitors. Businesses can customize the network with personalized splash pages and branding options specific to their business. They can also use the platform’s access controls to define connection times and bandwidth limits and set user session restrictions. featfeatfe

Multiple SSIDs: Because the eero platform has multiple SSIDs, businesses can help secure employee and business-critical devices by segmenting them from other connected devices on the network. A business can add up to 4 SSIDs. Multiple SSIDs allow businesses to support users at different access levels, define bandwidth limits and session restrictions, and more.

Room for scale: From a single access point, eero’s TrueMesh network provides up to 2,500 square feet of coverage per device, covering a business’s space. Wi-Fi Pro, powered by eero Max 7, supports wired speeds up to 9.4 Gbps, wireless speeds up to 4.3 Gbps. WiFi Pro, powered by eero Pro 6E, has a network speed of up to 2.3 Gbps when wired (up to a gigabit) and wireless (up to 1.6 Gbps). Besides eero’s support and advanced security features, Astound manages all licensing, network management, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

“Wi-Fi Pro is an ideal offering for small businesses, providing eero software and hardware to run their business securely while also providing access for their customers,” said Patrick Knorr, Chief Commercial Officer, Astound Business Solutions.

The new Wi-Fi Pro for Small Business service builds enable Astound Business Services to appeal to the underserved small business market, which typically lacks the IT resources to manage Wi-Fi services.

Astound already honed its experience in managed Wi-Fi with its previously launched Custom Wi-Fi, which covers larger enterprise deployments, and its Business Wi-Fi offering serves medium enterprises. For small businesses, Wi-Fi Pro can be deployed with a single access point, bringing a company to the ground level of wireless coverage. It is ideal for businesses with gigabit+ plans with up to 100 connected devices or use throughput-intensive and latency-sensitive applications such as multiple high-resolution video conferencing calls.
