At Viavi Solutions, Dr. Paul Brooks leads up the strategy for the lab and production business unit with a focus on high speed optical transport technology. He is actively involved with IEEE standards and Ethernet Alliance. A veteran of the test and measurement industry he’s been involved in multiple technologies – from copper and xDSL to 400G Ethernet and has served in various roles in R&D and marketing with Wandel & Goltermann, Acterna, JDSU and Viavi. In earlier days he served as a Weapons officer in the Royal Navy where he completed a Ph.D in opto-electronics at Southampton University. An active sportsman - he spends his spare time flipping tractor tires, lifting weights and restoring old radios. He lives in Southern Germany where he laments the lack of 1st class rugby!
