Mr. Walklin studied at the University of Alberta, graduating in 1992 with a BSc in Electrical Engineering with distinction, and in 1997 with a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In the mid '90s he pioneered research at TRLabs on advanced modulation formats for high-speed optical transmission. He was a Radio System Designer at Nortel, Senior Designer at RIM, Optical System Designer at Innovance, and a Control System Designer and Manager of Hardware and Software at Metconnex. Mr. Walklin started as Systems Architect at Optelian in 2006, advanced to Director of Systems Architecture, and was promoted to CTO in 2010. As CTO, he is responsible for technology strategy and overall product architecture. Mr. Walklin is a member of the IEEE Communications Society, Photonics Society and CREATE Program Committee for Next Generation Optical Networks.
