Stentor, the alliance of Canada`s regional telecommunications companies, has chosen 3Com Corp. of Santa Clara, CA, to standardize the deployment of a new remote access service to business customers. The system is intended to provide fast, secure access to corporate networks in 23 cities across Canada. Businesses using the system will dial local telephone numbers for analog or higher-speed isdn connections to a virtual private network based on 3Com Total Control enterprise network hubs on Stentor?s national frame relay service. Stentor?s HyperStream switched access capability is expected to lower businesses? remote access costs by reducing equipment costs and the need for toll-free and long-distance calls.
