Bay Networks Inc., Santa Clara, CA, has a new customer in Arizona`s Carondelet Health Network, a non-profit health-care provider. Carondelet`s $1.2 million upgrade included replacing its point-to-point, wide area network made up of copper T1s (1.554 Mbits/sec), with an OC-3 (155-Mbit/sec) atm wide area network fiber-optic ring. The ring network connects two Carondelet hospitals and a management services organization facility in Tucson. The ring network is expected to divert critical information if the link fails, allowing Carondelet`s three facilities to access patient information at all times. Bay Networks products in the network include routers, Ethernet switches, Backbone Concentrator Node, Backbone Link Node, Distributed 5000 switching hubs and chassis, and its Optivity Enterprise management suite.
