Metromedia Fiber Network Inc. (New York City) has signed an agreement with an investment banking firm to provide a dark fiber telecommunications network in the New York metropolitan area. Metromedia currently operates a fiber-optic network in New York that supports sonet, dwdm, atm, and Gigabit Ethernet. Infrastructure is under development along routes in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington, DC, as well as an inter-city link between New York and Washington, DC.
