Fiber for metropolitan networks
AllWave fiber provides 50% more usable bandwidth than conventional singlemode fiber, according to the manufacturer. Using a proprietary purifying process, the company virtually eliminates water molecules in glass fiber, opening up a wavelength band in the fiber spectrum that was previously unusable, so service providers can use the entire 1280- to 1625-nm region. Designed for use in short-haul metropolitan networks, AllWave fiber opens up the 1340- to 1440-nm region for carriers that require either more capacity or longer-distance, high-speed transmission.
