Nortel (Brampton, ON, Canada) will provide its Passport Model 6480 enterprise network switches, Vector Asynchronous Transfer Mode (atm) switches, and JungleMux utility communications equipment to Hydro-Quebec (Montreal) in a deal worth $24 million. Hydro-Quebec plans to use its fiber-optic link between Montreal locations to overlay an atm infrastructure among 20 sites.
