March 27, 2003--California Eastern Laboratories (CEL) has announced the availability of a new series of 2.5-Gbit/sec and 10-Gbit/sec Electro-Absorption Modulator MQW DFB laser diode modules from NEC.
According to the company, the new laser modules feature:
• Monolithically integrated laser modulator chip
• Integrated Fabry-Perot Etalon filter and two photodiodes
• Low dispersion penalty
• Low modulation voltage
• Low power consumption
With a precision-controlled emitted wavelength of ± 20 pm Wavelength Stability E.O.L., these high-performance modules are ideal for DWDM transmission networks, say NEC representatives. By integrating functions, they also address the networks' needs for space savings and cost reduction.
NEC's 2.5-Gbit/sec NX8567 series modules are designed for DWDM wavelengths, based on ITU-T recommendations, and offer full C- and L-Band coverage. They are housed in hermetically sealed
14-pin butterfly packages with internal thermoelectric coolers. Three versions are available:
• NX8567SA -- for 600-km applications
• NX8567SAM -- for 360-km applications
• NX8567SAS -- for 240-km applications
The 10G NX8560SJ series modules are designed for use in DWDM systems and 10-Gbit/sec transponders. Housed in hermetically sealed standard 7-pin butterfly packages with GPO connectors and internal thermoelectric coolers, they are designed for 40-km DWDM ITU-T-based applications and offer C-Band coverage.
Available now, the new modules join CEL's growing family of NEC fiber-optic components. For data sheets, visit CEL's Web site at www.cel.com.
