Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), a provider of next-generation IP infrastructure systems, announced that NOOS, a French cable operator, has deployed Juniper Networks M-series routers in its key Points-of-Presence in Paris and Nanterre, France.
NOOS provides Internet access, television, and telephone services to over two million homes in France. They are prominent in France in the field of interactive digital TV as well as high-speed Internet connectivity, and are working towards an integrated multimedia network throughout France.
The Juniper Networks routers in the NOOS core backbone are connected together using Gigabit Ethernet and OC-12/STM-4 (622 Mbps) interfaces. NOOS has dedicated one of the POPs as a data center where all of the service platforms are located. The second POP is used for cable access aggregation and is utilizing dedicated aggregation devices that are connected to the Juniper Networks routers. In the next 12 months, NOOS is planning an aggressive rollout of the second POP throughout France to extend their geographic reach in providing services such as high-speed Internet access and high-quality multicast video over cable to consumers.
"The key to selecting Juniper Networks routers for our network is the wire rate performance coupled with the robustness of the JUNOS Internet software," said Joseph Dahan, head of IP networks and security engineering at NOOS. "In addition, the Juniper Networks solutions allow us to deploy higher-speed connections without upgrading our entire systems."
