C-COR.net to supply fiber optics, amplifiers and network management system in Indonesia
C-COR.net (Nasdaq: CCBL) announced that the Company is part of a successful consortium bid to develop a broadband network in Indonesia for Pt. Indosat Mega Media (IMM). During the first phase of the contract, C-COR.net will supply equipment for the construction of an HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) system passing 15,000 Indonesian homes from two headends-one in Jakarta and one in Surabaya.
Designed for 500 to 750 homes per node, the new network will include C-COR.net's lumaCOR AM (Amplitude Modulation) fiber optic headend equipment, naviCOR optical nodes, FlexNet 900 Series coaxial cable amplifiers, and the CNM (Cable Network Manager) element management system. The network will offer video and cable modem service to subscribers. IMM anticipates eventually expanding the project to include more than 400,000 homes passed.
The winning consortium includes Fujikura Ltd. of Japan serving as the optical fiber manufacturer; Pt. Sumitomo Indonesia of Indonesia and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan serving as the main contractor to IMM and total project coordinator; and Pan Asian Systems (PAS) of Hong Kong supplying signal distribution equipment. PAS is C-COR.net's exclusive distributor in Asia and its representative within the consortium team. The consortium was selected over eight other bids in the competitive win.
IMM is a cable network operator based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Its parent company, Pt. Indosat, owns a communications satellite and maintains other communications infrastructure support in Asia, such as submarine fiber optic cable lines. Pt. Indosat has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 1994.
