AT&T Latin America continues planned expansion in Argentina

July 13, 2001--With the addition of this key metropolitan area, AT&T Latin America now reaches a total of 13 of the region's business centers.

AT&T Latin America (Nasdaq: ATTL), a facilities-based provider of high-bandwidth business communications services and solutions with operations in five Latin American countries, announced another milestone in its planned expansion into Argentina, launching operations in the city of Rosario. With the addition of this key metropolitan area, AT&T Latin America now reaches a total of 13 of the region's business centers.

In Argentina, a 374-km fiber optic network with high-quality DWDM technology will link Rosario to Buenos Aires and a 1,400-km network will then link Rosario to Argentina's other major cities.

To provide services that meet AT&T Latin America's standards, the company has invested in the construction of modern facilities to house and operate the most advanced equipment in the telecommunications arena.

In Rosario, AT&T Latin America intends to offer its "AT&T Business Kit" concept, aimed at small and medium companies, which includes integrated local digital telephony, domestic and international calls, dedicated Internet and data center services. This model provides a monitoring center for customer service management that allows the detection and resolution, in a proactive manner, of any type of performance glitches. Further, it offers customized integrated solutions designed for large companies and multinationals and long-distance service for residential customers.

With its optical transmission technology, AT&T Latin America offers broadband access with nearly boundless capacity to its Rosario corporate customers. This technology, added to the single-connection concept, enables clients to gain access to communications services through one company and a single physical connection.
