C-COR.net fiber optic and amplifier equipment selected for network in Switzerland
C-COR.net (Nasdaq: CCBL) announced that Gemeindebetriebe Muri, a Swiss public company that provides utility services including cable television, has selected C-COR.net as the exclusive supplier of equipment for its cable network upgrades in Muri, Switzerland, located in the Kanton of Bern. C-COR.net will provide headend optical products, fiber optical nodes, and amplifiers for the upgrade project, scheduled to begin in August 2001.
C-COR.net equipment used in the project will include I-Flex II Nodes and Bridgers as well as lumaCOR Optical Dual Return Path Receivers and Forward Path Transmitters. Once upgraded, the HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) network in Muri will provide two-way, 860 MHz, 1310 nm capabilities to support voice, video, and data services over cable to approximately 6,100 subscribers. Current plans call for the installation of 40 nodes with a maximum of 200 subscribers per node. A key feature of the upgraded network will be full redundancy with each I-Flex node equipped with dual receiver and transmitter modules. This approach provides an immediate installed backup solution in case one fiber link or module fails.
C-COR.net's local distributor, CNT AG, will support the Muri project with logistics service, warranty and repair, equipment stocking, training, and customer support.
