Novaxess selects Lucent Technologies to deploy its pan-European broadband access network
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) announced that it has signed an agreement with Novaxess, a Netherlands-based pan-European broadband applications provider, to deploy a broadband access network, using digital subscriber line (DSL) technology, throughout Europe. The initial agreement, worth up to $65 million, is for switching and broadband access products provided by Lucent. The contract could increase to more than $150 million over the next two years as Novaxess expands and develops its services across Europe.
Novaxess is an officially registered European supplier of high-quality telephony, broadband data communications and Internet solutions for small and medium-sized companies. Recognizing a strong need for broadband Internet solutions within this community, Novaxess' offer will include voice and data services designed to enhance its customers' operations at every stage of their development as well as to help them build their business on solid high-performance telecommunications solutions from a single supplier.
Lucent will supply its AnyMedia Access Systems as well as its 5ESS Switch for voice services. The AnyMedia system will enable Novaxess to offer regular voice, Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and DSL services from a single platform.
