Romanian carrier Romtelecom has committed to the ADVA FSP 3000 Agile Core transport platform from ADVA Optical Networking (FSE:ADV) for both national and international applications. According to the systems house, Romtelecom will use the FSP 3000 in several county-wide rings, a nationwide fiber-optic network, and an international link between Romania and Germany.
Romtelecom offers wholesale services, managed and dark-fiber leased services, mobile backhaul, data center connectivity, cloud computing, and colocation services, among others. To upgrade its networks to keep pace with its requirements, Romtelecom selected the FSP 3000, which will provide both DWDM and multi-degree reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing (ROADM) capabilities, for all three infrastructures after a competitive tendering process.
"We sought to consolidate around a single vendor backed by a complete support offering, and ADVA Optical Networking was the best-suited choice," adds Wolfgang Breuer, chief technical officer at Romtelecom. "Our portfolio is wide and growing. Only ADVA Optical Networking provides a globally proven core solution with such valuable agility to support our service offering. This new FSP 3000-based solution helps us to improve our time-to-market and deliver high-capacity services of any protocol, with a clear and graceful migration to 100 Gbps in the future."
