The Japanese Internet Exchange Point (IXP) and operator of the Japan Network Access Point (JPNAP), Internet Multifeed Co., have successfully conducted a 100-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interoperability test. The trial was carried out in conjunction with the Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) and NTT Communications using routers, switches, and packet generators provided by Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD) and other networking vendors.

The Japanese Internet Exchange Point (IXP) and operator of the Japan Network Access Point (JPNAP), Internet Multifeed Co., have successfully conducted a 100-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interoperability test. The trial was carried out in conjunction with the Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) and NTT Communications using routers, switches, and packet generators provided by Brocade (NASDAQ:BRCD) and other networking vendors.

Based on the results of the test, it has been confirmed that 100 GbE is ready to be deployed into IXP environments in terms of both interoperability and performance, Brocade asserts. In fact, Internet Multifeed Co. will now consider the service specification and pricing, and plans to provide 100GbE service by end of 2011, Brocade says.

Based on the success of the test, Brocade expectes 100GbE deployments by large ISP are anticipated to quickly scale with the massive volume for high definition video online. Brocade also expects its 100GbE blades will enable service providers to deploy terabit-per-second trunks.
