Optelian has unveiled the RGN-8010 eight-port transponder/regenerator card for the company’s LightGAIN optical networking platform. The RGN-8010 offers reach extension and wavelength conversion in CWDM and DWDM applications.

The new card is currently available.

The RGN-8010 supports up to eight SFP or SFP+ ports in a 1-wide card. It can be configured as a quad transponder, eight regenerators, or any combination of these functions, Optelian says. Each port can accommodate data rates from 10 Mbps to 10.7 Gbps.

The new card also supports Optelian’s PRBS test capabilities, in which the card can be configured as pseudo-random binary sequence generator and detector to validate connections between network endpoints.
