LightPointe, a manufacturer of Free Space Optics (FSO) wireless bridges and 60/70/80 GHz mm wave backhaul products, says that Antioch University has installed LightPointe's gigabit optical transmission links to improve building connectivity and data transmission performance for students and staff.

Antioch University is an education institution of traditional and online services with campuses in:

  • Seattle, WA
  • Santa Barbara, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Keene, NH
  • Yellow Springs, OH.

"Our system was fantastic, no matter what hit us, snow, rain and ice," said Michael Capron, network administrator for Antioch University. "A link did get bumped a little bit in a hailstorm, but still held signal. There is no comparison between the performance of the LightPointe products and the old wireless bridge solution we previously used. The speed has been far better. I wish everything was as easy as these. They definitely saw a lot of snow last winter, but held up flawlessly."

John Taylor, vice president of sales and marketing for LightPointe said, "Antioch is widely respected for their technology-enhanced learning environment, both online and campus-based. The school's use of webinars, training sessions, multimedia tutorials and other technology tools for students and staff require high capacity, low latency and reliable network communications between buildings and to remote locations via the internet. In addition to increasing the speed of their network, our free space optics links provide unparalleled security. The links cannot be intercepted, which is one of their major advantages over competing solutions."
