The Defense Information System Agency (DISA) has awarded Intellifiber Networks, a subsidiary of PAETEC Holding Corp. (NASDAQ GS: PAET), a Department of Defense to supply fiber services to the Defense Enterprise Computing System, located at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA.

The Defense Information System Agency (DISA) has awarded Intellifiber Networks, a subsidiary of PAETEC Holding Corp. (NASDAQ GS:PAET), a Department of Defense to supply fiber services to the Defense Enterprise Computing System (DECC), located at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA.

Intellifiber is part of PAETEC’s 36,000 route-mile fiber infrastructure. The network services company will supply DECC with fiber services including construction of fiber access laterals from the DECC into Intellifiber’s backbone in Pennsylvania, which will use DWDM to connect with other DISA core node sides in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Intellifiber’s services provide DISA with a platform for their data centers so that the agency’s information is accessible even if a portion of the network is disrupted.

“DoD centers, like the DECC, cannot tolerate any downtime and require secure and reliable high-speed access to their vital data,” said Mike Magliato, Intellifiber vice president of government markets.

The contract award is part of the Department of Defense’s initiative to implement end-to-end diverse networks for critical infrastructure sites. DECC is a fee-for-service organization of the DISA Computing Services Directorate (CSD) that provides processing capability, systems management, communications, and data storage in support of Department of Defense services, agencies, and combatant commands.

“With the increasing trend toward extremely fault-tolerant, scalable cloud solutions, our fiber services continue to be in growing demand in the government sector,” said Clint Heiden, president of PAETEC Fiber Services. “With over 36,000 fiber route-miles available, we are able to offer diverse solutions for agencies of all sizes and geographic footprints.”
