Bright House Networks selects Cisco ASR 9000 Series routing platform for enhanced video and services network
Bright House Networks has deployed the Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers as its Carrier Ethernet platform to deliver enhanced video, data, voice, and mobile backhaul services throughout its converged network.
Bright House Networks is growing its network to meet ever-increasing consumer and business bandwidth requirements as network needs become more pervasive, while reinforcing its ability to add new services, such as Whole House Video On Demand, Start Over, and Look Back.
With global Internet traffic projected to increase more than fourfold by 2014, the Cisco ASR platform will help Bright House Networks meet its growing bandwidth needs as it continues to add advanced products and services. The company also will use the platform to continue to expand its high-speed Internet "Road Runner Lightning" service, using DOCSIS 3.0 technology, to its residential and business customers.

The new platform uses Cisco's IOS XR modular software operating system, simplifying Bright House Networks' network operations and enabling system redundancy and network resiliency.

Bright House Networks' Metro Ethernet architecture is certified as compliant with the Metro Ethernet Forum's (MEF) standards (MEF 9 and MEF 14).
