OCTOBER 28, 2009 -- As the company continues to expand its reseller channel, Sorrento Networks, a global provider of metro optical access products, announces that TelWorx Communications LLC has joined Sorrento's partner program.

TelWorx, a certified provider of products and technical services for wireless, wireline, data centers, and government customers, now offers Sorrento's GigaMux and GigaEdge product lines to its Tier 2 and 3 local exchange carrier (LEC) customers in North America.

"Traffic on the world's networks continues to increase, and our customers are searching for solutions to maximize the use of their fiber," claims Tim Scronce, president and chief executive officer of TelWorx. "Our company's mission is to understand our customers' needs and help them meet those needs -- by partnering with Sorrento we have the ability to offer them a true competitive metro Ethernet DWDM/CWDM product portfolio and to design complete solutions for obtaining more bandwidth on their fiber."

Sorrento's GigaMux DWDM platforms enable enterprise and service provider customers to deliver high-speed services that require a significantly reduced capital outlay and fewer management requirements than other optical networking products. A protocol-independent design allows the GigaMux platform to transport and extend the traffic of SONET/SDH, Layer 2/3 Ethernet, and SAN simultaneously and in their native format. This flexibility and control allows customers to add or upgrade bandwidth incrementally based on traffic requirements. The GigaMux product portfolio includes the GigaMux 1600/3200, 6400, and 6440 systems.

Sorrento's GigaEdge optical services provisioning platforms (OSPPs) aggregate many different services found at the edge of the network and resolve the high-capacity optical upgrade needs of customers, says the company. The GigaEdge product portfolio includes the GigaEdge 232 and 820 series.

"We were extremely interested in working with TelWorx because the company has excellent relationships with the LECs across North America," says Kevin Antill, vice president of sales, Sorrento Networks. "In addition, they have the ability to sell total solutions, not just off-the-shelf boxes, and our customers have unique networking issues that often require customized solutions. Because of this, TelWorx is an ideal partner for Sorrento, and we are excited to have them on board."
