The Inferno laser, a 1550-nm DFB source laser for DWDM applications, is available for sampling. The Inferno delivers a minimum of 80-mW CW output power over an operating case temperature range of -40°C to +65°C and is available with a PMF or a SMF fiber pigtail to accommodate both LiNbO3 transmitters and discrete electroabsorption 1550-nm transmitters. In some applications, Inferno will eliminate the need for a booster EDFA. Initially, Inferno will support C-band applications, however both C and L bands will be populated early next year.
