ATHERMAL OPTICAL PACKAGE

Jan. 1, 2001

An athermal optical package for optimized temperature stabilization compensates for the thermo-optic and strain-optic effects that affect the optical performance of DWDM and gain-flattening gratings. The passive component expands the use of fiber Bragg gratings to uncontrolled environments from -40°C to 80°C, improving wavelength stability over a wide range of temperatures and maintaining channel spacing.
