SingTel selects ADVA Optical Networking gear for managed WDM service backbone
JUNE 16, 2010 -- Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (SingTel) has appointed ADVA Optical Networking (FSE: ADV) as a vendor for its high-speed managed metropolitan optical network service known as GigaWaveLite (GWL).
SingTel’s WDM-based GWL service enables the delivery of real-time applications and the transmission of data, voice, video, and multimedia services. The carrier targets the managed high-speed, point-to-point optical service at enterprise customers needing to connect two or more sites at speeds of up to 10 Gbps. SingTel offers its GWL service to the banking, finance, healthcare, education, manufacturing, and logistics industries, as well as to media content and other information technology service providers.
“We selected ADVA Optical Networking’s FSP 3000 as one of our platforms for this critical, fast-growing service because of its ability to support ultra-low latency and its single-fiber working technology,” stated Lim Ming Kiat, director of data network and hosting engineering at SingTel. “We offer our customers some of the industry’s most rigorous service-level agreements (SLAs); our network must therefore deliver the most advanced connectivity services that consistently perform at the highest levels.”
Said Lucas Hsu, ADVA Optical Networking’s president for Asia-Pacific, “In a tough competition with other world-class vendors, ADVA Optical Networking’s long and successful history with enterprise solutions proved its ability to enable one of the region’s strongest managed enterprise services networks.”
