OCTOBER 14, 2010 -- Optelian says that Blackfoot Telecommunications Group, a rural cooperative in Montana, has deployed its LightGAIN 40-channel DWDM system.

The co-op’s four companies offer telecommunications services to 20,000 customers in Western Montana. Blackfoot was experiencing increased customer demand for new 10-Gbps and Gigabit Ethernet services but its existing fiber ring was nearing exhaust, according to Optelian. Blackfoot therefore used the LightGAIN 40-channel DWDM system to quickly add capacity.

“Optelian gave us outstanding support during test and turn-up,” said Frank Creasia, vice president – network operations, Blackfoot Telecommunications Group. “Optelian provided quick delivery and training of our personnel made the installation and subsequent channel additions very easy.”
