APRIL 28, 2010 -- Orckit Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ: ORCT) says that Mexican metro network operator MetroNet has successfully deployed the first-ever 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) MPLS metro ring in Mexico using Orckit-Corrigent’s CE+T platform.

MetroNet has leveraged Orckit-Corrigent’s CE+T platform to bring 10GbE to its carriers’ carrier network, which provides high-end connectivity to the majority of telecommunications operators in Mexico.

“MetroNet has a long-standing reputation as the leading provider of high-capacity telecommunication services in Mexico, and this deployment serves as another proof point that we are constantly embedding advanced technologies,” said Miguel Angel Fernandez, CTO at MetroNet. “We have used MPLS for many years and realize that Carrier Ethernet is indeed a significant growth engine for our networking infrastructure and business model. By using Orckit-Corrigent’s CM-4000 to enhance our network, we have taken our services to the next level and are now able to better serve our customers.”

MetroNet began deploying CM-4000 platforms in its network last year (see "MetroNet upgrades infrastructure with Orckit-Corrigent transport system").
