RCN Metro Optical Networks provides Ethernet service to Pacific Northwest Net
FEBRUARY 8, 2010 -- RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corp. (NASDAQ: RCNI), says it has been selected by Pacific Northwest Net, a transport provider of broadcast-quality video and audio circuits, to provide Ethernet service in the Northeast corridor. RCN Metro will provide Pacific Northwest Net with multiple circuits between Boston and New York.
Pacific Northwest Net, founded in 1996 as an ISP serving primarily the broadcast media industry, migrated in 2003 to the transport of broadcast video, audio, and data to the northwest region of the US. Today the company has grown internationally, with network services being provided to organizations in the broadcasting, DSS/DTH satellite, cable, and corporate world.
"At Pacific Northwest Net, we're increasingly adding projects in the Northeast corridor and wanted to add greater provider diversity to our network. From our extensive research, RCN Metro emerged as the superior alternative -- far outpacing the competition on service, quality, and culture," said Trudy Holland, president, Pacific Northwest Net. "The knowledge and experience at RCN Metro heavily influenced our selection process. From the outset, they demonstrated an understanding of our business and tailored a flexible solution that aligned with our unique needs."
