The Visual Light Source Pen for Fiber (FOVFL-PEN) is a lightweight pen-style tool with 0 dBm output. Meanwhile, the Visual Fault Locator for Fiber (FOVFL) offers three output levels: 0 dBm, +3 dBm, and a powerful +8 dBm. Both are designed to help identify faults, bad connectors, and poor splices in fiber lines.

Because they work with jacketed and bare fiber, the tools can be used to check jumper cables, patch panel connections, and fanouts, Black Box says. Both have an auto-shutoff feature to conserve battery power.
