20 February 2004 Santa Clara, CA -- Dowslake Microsystems has announced the general availability of a CWDM/DWDM multi-rate multi-service transmission subsystem based on its 19-inch 1RU MiniSIS platform.
The MiniSIS CWDM/DWDM transmission subsystem consists of bidirectional transponders with full client and trunk optical interfaces covering complete CWDM or DWDM wavelengths. At a data rate of up to 2.5 Gbits/sec, the MiniSIS CWDM/DWDM transimission subsystem supports a transmission distance without OEO regeneration of up to 600 km for DWDM, or up to 100 km for CWDM. Full 3R signal regeneration is performed to ensure the best transmission signal integrity.
The MiniSIS can host up to four transponder line-cards, providing 4-channel bi-directional transmission solution in a 1RU 19-inch rack. Users can specify the exact wavelength for either CWDM or DWDM.
Users also can select, through standards-based network management, any of the most commonly used communication and networking services such as SONET/SDH (OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4, OC-48/STM-16), Gigabit Ethernet, or Fibre Channel (1 and 2 Gbits/sec).
The subsystem incorporates performance monitoring and diagnosis features, including both trunk-side and client-side loop-back testing. Standards-based management interfaces such as TL1 and SNMP make system level testing and maintenance easy.
The MiniSIS transmission subsystem also offers optional on-board 1+1 protection for each wavelength.
