CIENA Corp. (Linthicum, MD) announced that Cable & Wireless Communications (C&W--London) selected its MultiWave Sentry 4000 DWDM equipment for deployment in its network as early as this year. A $16-million order was placed in connection with the next phase of C&W`s network build-out. C&W is currently using CIENA`s DWDM equipment to carry traffic between the United States and mainland Europe through the United Kingdom and has deployed the 16-channel MultiWave Sentry along four interconnected routes within the carrier`s Germany 6 project.
