Bragg grating
Bragg grating
The 980-nm edfa pump laser stabilization Bragg grating is provided in the center of a 2-m section of fiber. A colored mark indicates the location of the grating. When the grating is pigtailed to a pump laser, the backreflected light mixes in the laser cavity and locks the lasing mechanism to the Bragg wavelength. Incorporation of pigtailed fiber gratings as external cavities improves their wavelength temperature stabilization, reduces RIN, makes them robust against feedback from other sources, and allows looser device manufacturing tolerances.
