afo (Fremont, CA) has received approval of a patent filed on its fused, cascaded-fiber (fcf) dense wavelength-division multiplexing (dwdm) technology. The newly patented all-fiber technology uses a fused-biconical taper technique to fuse and cascade fiber into a series to control the signal. The result, says the company, is high return loss, high wavelength isolation, low insertion loss, and superior signal-to-noise ratio. afo has incorporated the fcf technology into its WaveCombiner and WaveSplitter products.
