Double bandwidth fiber amplifier

The system-ready dbfa fiber amplifier has twice the operating bandwidth of that offered by a conventional edfa, according to the manufacturers. dbfa offers >20 dB flattened gain from 1530 to 1605 nm for inline wdm amplification. This device would allow a 160-channel wdm system (50-GHz spacing) to reach an extra 100-km transmission distance.
