MARCH 12, 2009 -- ZTE Corp. (search Lightwave for ZTE) has launched a new next-generation intelligent WDM (iWDM) offering integrated with Wavelength Switched Optical Network (WSON), photonic crossconnect, Layer 2 switching, and OTN technologies.

The iWDM product family includes the ZXWM M920 long-haul optical network system, the ZXONE 8600 optical crossconnect, the ZXMP M820 metro optical network platform, and the ZXMP M720 metro edge optical network system.

The iWDM line delivers flexible IP bandwidth management and aggregation functions and enables the efficient management of large granule services including GbE/10GbE, says ZTE. iWDM's multiple intelligent protection at the optical, electric, data, and WSON layers guarantees the development of complete 3G and IP communication services, the company asserts.

The family also features intelligent control plane, high-capacity optical layer and service layer scheduling, and carrier-grade protection to leverage carriers' investment. It offers IP-based interfaces and processing to help operators create new IP services, assists enterprises in deploying intelligent optical networks, and enables operators to integrate the equipment with existing infrastructure, ZTE concludes.
