Digiweb taps Transmode, Overture Networks for Dublin network
FEBRUARY 21, 2007 -- Transmode (search for Transmode) and Overture Networks (search for Overture Networks) today announced that leading Irish ISP, Digiweb, has deployed an advanced Ethernet over Optical network within its Dublin Metro network.
Â
The joint Transmode/Overture network provides Digiweb with a new Ethernet-over-WDM backbone network and Ethernet-over-fiber/copper access network to support growing demand for Digiweb's business-to-business and consumer ISP services.
Â
The joint solution was provided by local partner and integrator, the Dublin-based Next Generation Networks. Utilizing Overture Networks ISG 2200 nodes, Digiweb now can extend its Ethernet-based service offerings over off-net E1 connections, in addition to direct 10/100 BaseT connections. The Transmode TM-Series nodes, meanwhile, provide Digiweb with a simple to use, scalable, and flexible WDM backbone network, say Transmode representatives.
Â
"The combination of Transmode and Overture is an ideal solution to our network expansion requirements," explains John Quinn, Digiweb's head of strategy. "We have been able to select best-of-breed products from each vendor with the reassurance of prior interworking testing and local support from Next Generation Networks."
Â
"This project with Digiweb is exciting on two fronts," adds Björn Andersson, Transmode's vice president of sales. "Digiweb are a great addition to our customer base in Ireland, and the project also proves the combined strength of the Transmode/Overture joint offering. In choosing the TM-Series platform, Digiweb have selected the WDM platform with the widest range of functionality available in any WDM system."
