The Transcend SDN Solution seeks to create a framework in which service providers can develop new billable services optimized for the cloud applications that are driving network growth. It comprises an SDN software suite that includes the Coriant Transcend Orchestrator, which is based on the OpenDaylight Project; the Coriant Transcend Transport Controller; and the Coriant Transcend Application Suite. Open Virtual Switch functionality is incorporated for network functions virtualization.
As service providers add and remove network traffic flows over time, network resources can become fragmented and connection requests can go unfulfilled even if there is unused capacity. The Transcend SDN solution enables network defragmentation and allows operators to optimize existing connections and pack them in a more efficient manner on the network, Coriant says. This allows more services to be provisioned on a network.
