Huawei says that its 100-Gbps network technology currently supports a total combined link length of more than 50,000 km. The links represent a combination of customers that includes more than 40 carriers in over 30 countries.

The company says the customers are in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia Pacific – which, of course, implies that it has yet to announce a customer in North America. Salient deployments include what Huawei touts as “the world's most extensive 100G network” deployment by Russia’s Rostelecom and the first pan-European 100G WDM network for KPN in the Netherlands (see "KPN International deploys Huawei’s coherent 100-Gbps WDM system").

Furthermore, Huawei says that Ovum has named it the current 100G market share leader, with 39% of the market. Huawei attributes its success to its supply chain and technical expertise, particularly in SD-FEC/HD-FEC and Optical Transport Network (OTN) technologies. In fact, Ovum ranks Huawei on top in WDM/OTN, 40G, 100G, and global optical network equipment sales as of Q2 2012.

"To create long-term value for our customers, Huawei is committed to understanding customer needs, delivering technological innovation, and optimizing the industry ecosystem. Huawei's transport network will continue to surpass customer expectations," said Jack Wang, president of the Huawei Transport Network Product Line.
